Camille & Stuie + Sonny French

When Tasmanian guitar wiz Stuie French was touring Australia with Merle Haggard in 1996 did he see a sign foretelling that in years to come he would fall in love with a Maori woman who sang like an angel and they would end up making beautiful music, and a family, together?

When Camille Te Nahu arrived in Australia in 1999 her vocal talents were immediately recognised by Kasey Chambers and Beccy Cole who employed her as their backing singer both on the road and in the studio. Over the years, Camille and Stuie released their own albums – Stuie with the Feral Swing Katz and Camille’s solo album (Camille Te Nahu), and their paths would often cross as they both toured with Australian country stars (Troy Cassar Daly and Gina Jeffreys). But it wasn’t until 2002 when their stars aligned and they fell in love.

At the 2017 Tamworth Golden Guitar Awards, Stuie won a Golden Guitar award for Instrumental of the Year. In 2013, Camille and Stuie won their first Golden Guitar Award together for “Best Alternative Country Album of the Year”.

Camille and Stuie have also had two of their songs (Gone for all money and Pretty Katalina) featured on the hugely popular, new Channel 7 drama “A Place to Call Home”. Camille also featured on New Zealand television this year with a full episode of her musical life on “Unsung Heroes of Maori Music”.

Stuie is a master of the country/jazz guitar-style (Les Paul invited him up to play in New York), and his smooth voice harks back to the days of Tommy Duncan singing with Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys – no pretense or exaggeration. Stuie always has a band that can create the perfect bed for Camille’s gentle, velvet voice. She sounds like no other singer with a style that is effortless, a sound that is rich, deep and very easy on the ear.

Camille and Stuie are truly a musical marriage made in heaven and their latest album Tahi is a must-have collection of beautiful moments shared together and with their young son Sonny.

This album goes on to tell the stories of two bushrangers, another about a beautiful town, a song about a loner, a recluse, and an escape artist (Goal that is), a snake and the spectacular Nullabour Desert. We have also included some of our great indigenous heroes in the hope that we can share their stories.

Judah Kelly

Emerging from the nationwide success of winning the 2017 series of The Voice and the release of his debut album Count On Me, Judah Kelly had a realisation that his next step would be a crucial one. Freed of the bright lights and intense scrutiny, Judah knew that his second album was a chance to establish an even stronger musical identity for himself and lay the groundwork for a career playing the music he loves. On Real Good Time he’s comprehensively achieved that goal.

Realising that he needed to lay the foundations for his post-Voice career, Judah set about listening to hundreds of potential songs for Real Good Time. Aware that his unique ability lies in singing and putting his own stamp on other writers’ songs, Judah recalls “listening to lots of songs for hours and hours and waiting for the right ones to hit me.” That commitment has resulted in 13 tracks that run the gamut of human emotion via the heartache of country and the romance of soul music.

From covering Vince Gill and Miley Cyrus on his debut, Judah has cast his net wider on Real Good Time, taking in the strutting honky tonk groove of the Chris Stapleton-penned ‘Ain’t No Thing’ and transforming Ian Moss’ iconic ‘Tucker’s Daughter’ into a heady, bluesy, soul shakedown. The song’s anthemic and infectious chorus will still incite mass sing-alongs but in Judah’s hands the song is also musically recast in a new and irresistible light.

Now it’s time for the public to hear the album LIVE as Judah takes to the road for a series of intimate shows with his band in tow. Fan’s can be treated to not just new material but a slew of Judah’s favourite covers and tracks from his debut album COUNT ON ME.
