Whats On

It’s been 4 decades since the Shire rock band FINCH performed anywhere.

“ We met in June for the first time since ‘76 for a jam….to try it out and it was so much fun. Big smiles beamed instantly across the studio as we clicked from the first song. Boom ! The original 4 members rediscovered that exhilarating source of joy from our youth – shared passion for music of the time, so FINCH is rearing to fly again.”

Peter McFarlane (drums) , Tony Strain ( bass), Bob Spencer( guitar) & Owen Orford (vocals) will performing original FINCH material written between 1973 -1976

( Drouyn , Roses , Short Changed Again & Thunderbird) plus some Cream, Free & Led Zeppelin favourites – just because! 2 sets with interval.

In ’73 FINCH won the 2SM / Pepsi Pop Poll, recording 3 original songs for the acclaimed soundtrack Drouyn to the late Bob Evans’ surfing film mid-1974.

With hits like ‘Stay b/w Roses’ and ‘Short Changed Again’ FINCH toured nationally sharing stages with: Buffalo, Hush, Sherbet, Feather, Ted Mulry , AC/DC, Skyhooks, Supernaut , Stevie Wright & Dallimore. FINCH regularly played Cronulla Masonic Hall , Shire CYOs, The Last Picture Show, Hurstville Rivoli, Gunnamatta Park , Thirroul, Pt Kembla , Mt Pleasant , Wollongong , Kiama & Ulladulla.

The early 70s was such a fertile musical time for rock music. To us Sutherland Shire & the Illawarra Coast was the epicentre.

Now FINCH has a second chance & the reformation is set for a handful of shows with the original 4 piece line up. You’re only young twice !

Tickets for both shows will go on sale to the public Tues 3 Dec
